Ingredients:
4 apples cored - pink lady's are my preference.
60ml water
3 cloves.
70 g organic butter or vegan or other dairy free butter alternative
2 tbs maple syrup or raw organic honey
2 tbs of desiccated coconut
½ cup of buckwheat or almond flour.
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
Extra Yums: Sprinkle in some juicy berries, tangy rhubarb, or any other fruit that tickles your fancy. And for the grand finale, why not toss in some sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, or almonds for that extra crunch and pizzazz!
Method:
Apple mix – Start by dicing apples and placing them in a ceramic cooking dish. Sprinkle with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, cloves, and water.
Crumble mix – Combine butter with flours until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs, then add coconut and nuts/seeds if desired. Next, mix in vanilla, maple syrup/honey, and the remaining cinnamon. If the crumble seems too moist, add more flour to maintain a crumbly texture.
Spread the crumble over the apple mix and bake at 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes until the top is golden and crispy. Keep in mind that cooking time can vary based on the thickness of the crumble and oven temperature.
